Why EMDR?

Find out more

WHY I USE EMDR THERAPY FOR TREATMENT OF ADVERSE LIFE EXPERIENCES:

  1. There is no homework required
  2. Clients do not have to relive or disclose any details of the events, they only need a word or phrase to describe it in their own terms
  3. If they cannot speak of the event, they only need to focus on the event for 30 seconds at time, usually manageable for client
  4. Client is in total control of the process, client choses a stop signal if needed at any time and taught relaxation techniques prior to starting
  5. Client-centered – meaning treatment is collaboratively developed
  6. Treatment is brief
  7. Treatment can be provided anywhere - in the field where no office needed, just a place to meet. I have treated persons in parks, and trained to provide treatment in community situations following disasters
  8. EMDR Early Intervention (EEI) provides treatment to persons immediately following disaster
