Think about what matters to you...

  •  What helps you feel safe with a therapist?
  • Does your therapist's gender matter to you?
  • Would you prefer a LGBT+ therapist?
  • Would you prefer a therapist that shares your cultural background, race or ethnicity?

think about what you want in therapy...

  • Do you want traditional talk therapy or something completely different? (Options include art therapy, drama therapy, music therapy, dance therapy, etc...)
  • You should also think about what you want to talk about in therapy, and look for therapists that specialize in those topics

Book a consultation

Consultations are usually free and are a chance to figure out if the therapist is a good fit. Some questions you may want to ask include:

  • "How much do you charge?"
  • "What does an average session look like?"
  • "What therapeutic approaches do you use?"
  • "Have you ever worked with someone who...?"
